Ketty La Rocca worked at the edge of language and image, finding meaning in the spaces between words and gestures. This gown finds its meaning in a similar in-between space — the junction of covered and revealed, structured and soft.
A cold-shoulder A-line ballgown with an illusion high neckline. The bodice features a fitted corset structure beneath a sheer mesh yoke that extends from the high neck to just below the shoulders, where draped off-the-shoulder sleeves fall in soft folds. Delicate lace appliques — floral and vine motifs — cover the illusion neckline and scatter across the bodice, creating an embroidered choker effect at the throat. A defined waistband separates the structured top from the full A-line skirt.
The skirt is constructed in layers of embroidered tulle with lace appliques distributed throughout, pooling into a dramatic chapel train. From behind, the illusion yoke reveals the back through the sheer mesh, with the lace appliques creating a cascade of botanical motifs down the spine. Small beaded or pearl embellishments line the center back closure.
